Symptoms Of Alcoholism

Dependence on alcohol has bore a lot of ugly effects not just to families but to the society as well. Those who abuse alcohol or those who have become addicted to it have caused way too much heartaches and heartbreaks to last them and their loved ones a lifetime.

What about you – are you one of these people who couldn’t live without drowning themselves in alcohol that you yourself couldn’t help but to be abusive already? How would you know when you are addicted to alcohol already? What are some of these alcoholism signs and symptoms?

Some alcoholism signs and symptoms are:

1. Cravings for alcohol

This becomes an irresistible, insatiable need and this thought mostly occupies the drinker’s head all throughout the day. It’s like the brain becomes an instant alcohol alarm clock that beeps constantly.

2. The Loss of Control

The alcoholic can no longer control this need and he will do everything to fill this need – no matter what the cost.

3. The Increase in Tolerance

The alcoholic will just continuously be in need of alcohol and such need keeps increasing each and every day. The more he drinks, the better (or the worse!) he feels.

4. Physical dependence

Without alcohol, the person will most likely become anxious, irritable and nauseous and will most likely experience tremors and seizures.

If these systems will keep prevailing, worst things could happen to the alcoholic and his family. Better to bear these alcoholism signs and symptoms in mind just so you could keep track if your dad or husband is quickly turning into an alcoholic monster.

If these signs and symptoms will be ignored, then problems like risky behavior, avoiding responsibilities at home and legal problems like Driving Under the Influence (DUI) are most likely to happen soon.

Other signs of alcoholism are:

  1. Worrying about not having alcohol the next day.
  2. No matter what, the person just couldn’t stop himself from drinking.
  3. Unlikely to reminder events or incidents because he was “drunk” when it happened.
  4. Going out to parties – just to drink.

The list could go on – so if you think someone from your family have these alcoholic signs and symptoms, then it’s time to take the necessary steps and help them.
